PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) - 1299 $US
PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC) defines the standard for instructor training. Coupled with state-of-the-art educational material, the PADI IDC allows you to learn quickly & effectively. It’s the most comprehensive program in the industry.
The IDC is the heart of PADI Instructor training. During the course, you’ll apply your diving knowledge & skills while learning to use the PADI System of diver education in the classroom & in the water.

The IDC is consist of 2 sections, the Assistant Instructor (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. This fit easy into your busy schedule by allowing you to split up the course into 2 blocks of time!

Assistant Instructor Course (AI) - 490 $US
The PADI AI Course is the first portion of the IDC – and can be completed in as little as 3 days. It adds to your abilities as a dive professional, while giving you the necessary tools to finish the IDC in the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.
Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) & Crossover - 890 $US
The rest of the IDC, the OWSI program is the final development step in your quest to become a PADI Instructor. You will learn to manage & adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs.

Prerequisite
To enroll in an IDC (AI and/or OWSI) or Crossover program, an individual must:
- AI/IDC: Be certified as a PADI Divemaster OR hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization.
- OWSI:Be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor
- Crossover: Be certified as a current instructor member in good standing with another recreational diver training organization for at least 6 months.
BSAC (Club Instructor or higher), CMAS (one star Instructor or three star diver), FAUI, IDEA, MDEA, NAUI, PDIC, SSI, SAA (Instructor Grade 2 or higher) or YMCA. (others may qualify – email for verification at thien@gopro-thailand.com).
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past 12 months. A licensed physician must sign the form and state that the candidate is fit for diving. The physician signing the form may not be the applicant.
- Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water scuba dives (as documented in the individual’s log book) and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation diving. (To attend an IE, the instructor candidate must have at least 100 logged dives.)
- Submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
- Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization. (PADI Members who have these records on file at PADI do not need to resubmit.)

Required Materials
IDC Materials (Effective 1st January 2006):
The PADI Dive Center, Resort, Course Director and/or IDC Staff Instructor conducting a course must ensure
that all instructor candidates have, in their possession, a personal set of materials(as defined in the list of
required materials for the course), for study and use during the course and for reference afterward, unless
the materials are not available in a language understood by the candidate. Instructor candidates must have a
current edition of the materials listed below:
